MatterExport is a product of UC Logic, registered in England and Wales. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you visit our website (matterexport.com) or use our software.

2. The Desktop Application

MatterExport is a desktop Windows application. Your documents are exported directly from your iManage DMS to your local storage. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your documents, metadata, or iManage credentials. The only network call the application makes is a read-only license check against our license server to verify your subscription is active. This check does not transmit any document data or personally identifiable information about your system.

3. What We Collect via the Website

When you visit matterexport.com or make a purchase, we may collect:

• Purchase information: name, email address, company name, and billing address — collected by Stripe (our payment processor) during checkout.
• Analytics data: anonymous page views, referral sources, and device type — collected via PostHog to understand how visitors use the site. No personally identifiable information is tied to analytics unless you have made a purchase.
• Contact information: if you email us for support, we retain your email address and correspondence to provide assistance.

4. How We Use Your Information

• To activate and manage your software license
• To send purchase confirmations and license activation emails
• To provide customer support
• To understand website usage and improve our product and marketing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Stripe — payment processing. Stripe handles all card details and billing information under their own privacy policy.
• Resend — transactional email delivery (purchase confirmations, support correspondence).
• PostHog — website analytics. We use PostHog to track anonymous page views and site usage.
• Google Ads — advertising. We use Google Ads to promote MatterExport. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your visit to our website and to measure ad performance. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings.
• Vercel — website hosting.

6. Cookies

Our website uses cookies for analytics (PostHog) and advertising (Google Ads). Analytics cookies track anonymous page views and site usage. Advertising cookies allow Google to serve relevant ads and measure campaign performance. These cookies do not give us access to personally identifiable information. You can disable cookies in your browser settings or opt out of Google's advertising cookies at adssettings.google.com. Disabling cookies does not affect the MatterExport desktop application.

7. Data Retention

We retain purchase records and license information for the duration of your subscription and for a reasonable period afterwards for accounting and legal purposes. Support correspondence is retained for up to 2 years. Analytics data is retained for up to 12 months.

8. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to processing of your data
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format
